So, I got the popup for downloading the vbulletin app while logging in on my iPad. The problem is, the link to the appstore doesn't work, it just loads the page code into a browser window.

Suggest you just use the App Store app to go to the App Store and find "Forum Runner" app. Searching in the App Store for "vBulletin" will also get you Forum Runner.
