Ih, has you should know im new to the forum, and this is one of my first posts!
Im mostly a film guy and never enjoyed the digital transition with my D3000, dont know why, but maybe all the digital hassle and never getting the colours i want.
Soo, last week a friend of mine bought a E-pl1 and i got the opportunity to play with it a little and it sparked something on me. I've been thinking on this for a while and now im decided on buying a small camera to have always with me, use without thinking to much (compared to a full manual SLR like a Fujica STX-1), take to partys and get aways with friends, and some street of course. I want a prime lens around 24-35mm and reasonable fast.
First i thought about an E-PL1 (they are cheap now) + panny 14 2.5 or ultimately the new E-PM1 + the panny. For those options i would buy a external OVF.
Then i came across the Ricoh GRD. love the flixibility, the snap shot mode, the bw it produces, the small sensor (learned to love it for street). I mean, the RFF thread on ricoh grd are truly amazing.
Ultimately i came across the DP1. nice colors in daylight, larger sensor, good lens, (not so fast as the others) but seems a tad on the slow side for night time shooting (low iso and slow lens). But these can be had for little money.
I want your opinions on these little cameras, as a personal and user side, not technical, for that i have the review sites, but a camera is all about feeling and i want to know how do you feel about these cameras.
thank you
sorry for the big post and for my english =p

a EP1/2/3 or EPL-1/2 with 17/2.8 and the VF-1 OVF is a very affordable and capable set.

If the goal is portability and compactness, it's hard to beat the GRDs. I wouldn't consider the epl1 truly compact. You certainly couldn't carry it in your pant pockets (at least not without eliciting several "is that an interchangeable lens camera in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" jokes). The GRD, on the other hand is truly pocket-friendly. One trade off, though, would be more noise at higher ISOs compared to the EPL1.

First of all thank you for your reply's. Well, now you see my doubts. Im truly in love with the GRD family but i see the m43 as a more rational buy. Also the colors of the DP1 and the used price are a plus.
Let me say this, I'm a student, so money is a little problem, which means that choosing a m43 with panny or the grd III gonna translate into a mid-long term buy. Thats why I'm considering the GRD v1 vs v2 vs DP! which i can buy "pretty cheap" (if i can find them).
Anyway, i think I've made my mind on the GRD's or DP1. Hope I'm not gonna do a mistake.
