In the 1990's I was involved in making infomercials and running psychic phone lines.

We went down to Ponce, Puerto Rico to shot some TV spots with Walter Mercado. He had a beautiful home in Ponce, and was a gracious host.

He had huge closets filled with elaborate costumes. Walter was a soap opera actor who morphed into being a TV astrologer on the Spanish language TV stations. He was a consummate professional on the air.

At the time I was involved with a girl who was from Spain, and it was a roller coaster of insanity and nightmarish incidents. I could not have convinced my younger self otherwise, but in hindsight one should never get involved with girl who is crazy, no matter how hot and beautiful they are.

Would I do it again if I had the choice? Probably. That way lies madness and bankruptcy.

This is the Staatsburg, NY vacation home of Bob Guccione and Kathy Keeton, who founded Penthouse and Omni magazines.

I was invited there several times in the 1990's to discuss starting an internet project for Penthouse magazine, but this project never came to fruition. There was too much internal bickering in his organization. The girl in the foreground was my girlfriend at the time.

At this point in time, Kathy Keeton was suffering from advanced cancer. We were talking on a very hot day. She was furiously pulling weeds from her garden and said something to the effect: "I have all this. I have everything I want, and I'm dying." She was very angry,

A few months later she found some quack doctor who told her he could cure her by giving her Hydrazine Sulfate, otherwise known as "rocket fuel". She went on TV to announce that she was cured, and died several days later at age 58.
