The 90mm F4 Elmar in chrome is probably the lowest priced of the coated 90's and is quite good. If price were the same, I'd love to have a collapsible. But they are not.
I own a Minolta 90mm/f4. It is an excellent lens compared with my other non-M portrait type lenses. However, I don't know how the other ones compare. One good thing about this lens, besides being a nice solid little piece, is the fact that it takes screw-on filters, unlike the 90mm/f4 Elmar C.
i had a collapsible 90/f4 elmar for a while and loved its build qualities...it was solid...but the performance left me wanting....to say it flared is like saying the sun is hot...maybe i got a bad sample, but mine flared whenever i had a bright light source in the frame...losing contrast and throwing a haze across the frame...i didn't have the hood for it, don't know if that would have helped any though...i 2nd the 90 2.8...the one i tried was a big improvement over the collapsible...
