It seems besides CL and T, Q is another falling product. I found the price of it dropping considerably over the last few months. The recent lowest price I could find in eBay is $2950 (negotiable).

You may see its condition at the link below.

May be DanskDynamit was right that digital camera's price can only go down.:bang:

Here is Q2 been already for a while. With Leica making many different models and not been anything special (except RF M), but limited in technical capabilities and overpriced cameras it is way it should be.
I have seen Q for less than 2950 for sometime now. For disproportional camera which sucks in dust (if not covered by duct tape) and have odd brightness adjustment of EVF it is too much. 🙂 2950 is nothing but rip off.

Even on eBay they are sold for 2200. And I'm sure Huss will find them sold in USA at another site for under 2K$.
CL and T are nothing but Leica boutique products. As cameras they are nothing special. With Leica sabotaging third party lenses from not expensive manufacturers and having laughable amount of available lenses with correct crop factor and AF it is not surprising. Only those who wants to wear, show up Leica badge are buying them.
But even with all of these used gear prices are still high comparing to more advanced, not Leica labeled cameras. Canon RP is under 1K USD new. So, nothing too bad really.
I might even bulge and get Q for 2K USD price mark. 🙂 I don't wear tie daily, but Leica on the neck strap feels nice every day.

What is more unusual are not used, 500 shots M8 in 2020. I have seen two been on sale recently. Getting them for 4K and keeping them unused to sell for 2K sound like a tragedy.
This is what drives OP nuts, I guess 🙂.

The original post is nearly two years old, when $2950 was a good deal. These days, yes, you can get them for about $2000-2300, depending on condition and accessories. I have seen one or two well-used Q's under $2K, but I'd rather not go searching for them.

I've been thinking about a Q2, but it just seems such an expensive electronic product to "fall" in price so quickly.

Not keeping its value.
The SL/SL2 may be another case.
The M cameras do better.

But the m10 can be found for less than $5000 too...Maybe 60% of new. The m240, less.

M9 goes for 20% of new... but is 10 years old. The Q costs easily 50-60% of new and it’s been replaced by the Q2. It is not depreciating quicker than the M. It is a popular camera.

FYI, In the last year Leica had two price hikes. One done by Leica themselves to please the investors and compensate for the inflation. The other was done by the big head folks in the white house when they introduced an import duty on all non-US made merchandise. Wonder if this will drive used market prices up.
I was considering Q2 but I am afraid of this high mgpxl count, you might need to use faster shutter speeds to avoid "hi-res blur".
If Q-P will be available for 2K I might as well get it second hand.

Also, I find investing in cameras is a bad idea, I usually lose tons of money on sale/buying gear (even used one). So I keep them and use them until I don't want to use them anymore

I wasn't looking on OP date 🙂
It looks like if I'll wait another two years, Q is going to be well bellow 2K !

The Q was released in 2015...so even in the OP the Q was 3 years old at that point. It was $4250 new... so even if it sold for $2950, that is normal used % value for equipment after 2-3 years. It has been anything but a failure. Now, they still routinely for $2500 on eBay.

The Leica M262 was released in 2015 as well. It was $5195 new. They go for $2500-2900 on eBay...

It's a different world out there now. Generally, the new gen have no hang ups about worth and depreciation. They couldn't care less. They buy, they use, they throw it away.

I look at digital cameras as another computer. Like my Macs I get 7 to 10 years out of them. If I don’t use them enough to justify the initial cost then it’s my problem. I don’t get to sell my 5 year old MacBook and get half my money back though.

I just finished update of my 10 YO HP. Twice memory 100 CAD, new SSD - 150 CAD, twice more cores - 50 CAD.
It as fast as new. And we paid initially for it well under 1000 CAD.

I wouldn't touch MAC with ten feet pole, only if I paid for it at work.

That's every generation, including your own.
It's what capitalism and consumerism is built on.

Yes, and as capitalists devise new ways of maximizing their profits, the consumers in a society based on consumerism look for goods of high quality and with the lowest cost.
