I have been trying to master the black and white printing on newly acquired Canon PIXMA Pro-100. My main concerns buying the home printer were- color shift that you normally get when try printing black and white scans on inkjet.
Turns out- that’s not a main problem for me. With properly calibrated monitor and loading the correct profile I can get neutral B/W with no problem. In fact, when I compare prints with my hand made baryta prints, latter have more warm tints sometimes than these, depending on type of paper.

But what frustrates me is that black areas are really not black, especially compared with baryta. It is OK but I like to have deep blacks.
Is it even possible with inkjet? Is it dependent on paper? So far I only been using Canon luster, but ordered more exotic papers already.

Thanking in advance for any advices in this respect.

I can't help, I'm afraid, but would be interested to see the responses to this, as I am looking exceptionally dark blacks on my prints (Hahnemuehle Photo Rag 308) for large format printing via the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300.

Well, since nobody has any suggestions...
I almost resolved the problem by picking up the new Ilford's "GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk" paper.
It feels almost like my hand prints in sense of depth of black, detail, etc.
So that's my solution for now.
