Hey guys, does anyone know if a rangefinder beamsplitter prism (like the one in older canon camera that has the silver coating between two triangular glass forming a cube), can be replace with a typical mirror type 50/50 beamsplitter?
I'm asking because I found out my canon rangefinder (the one without frame lines) is really dirty and the dirt appear to be what people are calling de-silvering of the beamsplitter that sandwich within the prism cube, of course finding the correct cube prism beamsplitter are really expensive (in the $100++) which makes it not worth it for repair, I was wondering if a mirror beam splitter like that one in old leicas would work as a replacement, provides that I adjust the angle correctly in place of the cube of course?
