ok, here we go.
#1 where is the shutter? :bang: when i opened the back. i see no shutter!
#2 i swithed the camera to manual because it has no battery. the shutter will not fire and and the film advance lever will not move.
#3 did i get a dud?
thanks. i already looked at the manual online for the 7s. doesnt cover my issues.

The shutter is just behind the aperture, it's easier to see from the front.

It sounds like it's already wound on. I don't know if the Minolta inhibits the shutter when the battery is flat, the Prinz doesn't but it doesn't have the manual mode. Hope it isn't busted, the lens is very good and no magenta colour cast too!

You can fire the shutter without a battery, no problem. There is even an OFF position, just move the lever for the ASA to "Off" ... curiously enough.

Move the shutter speed dial through its range and try to fire the shutter. You may have a 7s with some problems.

It is a good little camera; I sold mine to a co-worker and he really likes it. I liked it too, but it just wasn't getting enough use.

i moved the camera to off. the shutter will not fire. when i open the camera. i dont even see a shutter. i wondering if its stuck open. but i dont even see anything to lubricate or anything.

I have exactly the same problem. I bought a Minolta 7s on Ebay, cheap, I think I spent $22 including postage. I tested everything about as thoroughly as possible without running film through. So two hours after posting positive feedback, I decided to test & exercise the shutter slow speeds some more and run film the next day. Within 5 minutes the shutter was locked open. Searching on Google finds lots of places that want to sell me a repair manual for $30. I'm still searching, but the link below is the best I've found so far.

I hope this helps, I've never fixed a camera before, so it may be a while before I try this myself.
