It looks like there's a decent amount of interest in making RFF a home for more photography-centric discussion (link to my initial thread). The next step is to propose the addition and regrouping of some existing forums to the head bartender and mods.

What new forums and subforums would you want to have made? To help come up with ideas, you can list some threads that you are interested in starting and see what forum it would fall under.

RichC has already proposed one forum, and I listed some possibilities in the initial thread. So far, we've got these ideas:

Photographer's Workshop

1) "Work in progress": i.e., "crit session" or "portfolio review." For getting feedback and advice on any stage of a project. A project can be your effort to develop a personal style, an open-ended series, a portfolio, a photobook, or a gallery show. You post a bunch of images and explain what your project is and what kind of feedback you're looking for, and other people ask questions, offer appropriate advice and knowledge, etc.

2) "Project management": For giving and receiving help on project management.

3) "Photo editing": For giving and receiving help on how to select and order a series of photos. Maybe even how to write captions and supplementary texts.

4) "Print-on-demand": For sharing experiences and information on the many options for self-publishing a photobook.

5) "Hiking & Mountaineering": For the landscape photographers.

6) Move "Travel" forum under this grouping?

Photographer's Study Hall

1) RichC's forum based on Miniclick, where a person starts a thread and presents a photo (or photos?) that they took or one that somebody else took, and people ask questions and contribute their knowledge, with no mention of gear:
what was their motivation, why they were taken in this particular way, do they work, what were the pitfalls, did taking them lead to anything unexpected, what’s next, and so on?
This isn’t high-brow art critique but simple general discussion - why, how, what...
It's sort of like Ted Forbes' "deep dives" on his vlog. Alternatively, you post a photo and write your interpretation of it like Szarkowski or Adams, and others write down what they make of it.

2) "History & Criticism": For discussing the history of photography and the critical literature that's been written about it. "Research guides" and "Bibliographies" can be subforums where we collectively compile information resources on various topics.

3) "Reading Club": Where anyone can coordinate with others to read a book or article together and discuss it. Could be a subforum of "Photo Books / Mags / Articles / Blogs."

4) "College Programs & Continuing Ed.": To discuss the merits and to share your experience with photography programs and continuing education options such as workshops, salons, seminars, etc.

5) Move "Photogs / Photo Exhibits" under this grouping.
