Purply/blue shadows that should be black

I'm getting a pretty serious purple cast on my prints, of scenes of my son playing on a pile of snow. i.e. black shadows are coming out purple/blue.

My equipment is Leica M8, using either Lightroom or Epson Creativity Suite's "Easy Photo Print" to print on Premier Glossy Paper. The computer is an IBM Thinkpad R51.

All this used to work fine, but I'm not a heavy printer - maybe printing a batch or so every couple weeks. But in the last few weeks, my wife has been using the printer as a regular paper printer, and I suspect printing a lot of black ink text.

I haven't tried cleaning nozzles yet.

I try the colour settings to "Epson Vivid", "Epson Standard" and "Adobe RGB", without seeing a lot of difference.

I am told that the image file is fine (no issues with color temperature, exposure, etc), and should print properly.

Do you see any clues from my description, for what's wrong and how to fix the problem?

Thanks all

Vick
