pushing rodinal

whats the max push in rodinal do you figure? (for delta 100.) I know delta 100 and rodinal are both bad choices for pushing... that's why I'm asking. 2 stops? think I could get 3?

I depends a LOT on what sort of quality you're after, or find acceptable. Are you looking for a particular "look" or do you mean how many stop of push would still yield reasonable results, resulting in a printable image?

Obviously the quality of the neg will deteriorate with each successive stop.

actually, I'm trying to do a quick test of a used camera I bought. I've decided to just wait until tomorrow and buy the right film and do a good job.

regardless, since I know it isn't like using tri x in d76, (where I can get a 4 stop+ push) I'm curious how far I can go and still get something decent.

The problem you'll encounter is that, with less exposure + more development, contrast will become unmanagable--especially with available light shooting, which tends toward contrast anyway. The good thing about Rodinal is that you can tame contrasts by using the weaker dilutions. Try 1:75 for an e/i of 320 or 1:100 for 500.

Also adding ascorbate to your rodinal increases activity a lot !
