Had a question regarding 3rd party lenses from 70s and 80s.
In general, is it safe to say that using (for example) a Tokina lens on a Minolta body will NOT require stop down metering?
Am I correct in assuming that a lens designed for a specific camera will have the necessary linkage for meter coupling?…same as the native Minolta lens.

You are correct. There are exceptions when mounts got „updated“ with additional cams for more features like auto exposure (eg the Contax/Yashica mount with the MM version). Usually the newer lenses are backwards compatible. So there is just a rule of thumb, no general answear to your question.
