Recently acquired this camera with 20mm f1.7.
I am prepared to get the Voigtlander rectangular 40mm finder however, I understand it blocks the pop up flash. I frequently use flash fill in bright sunlight.

Question: Anybody know if the round, metal 35mm Voigtlander finder will allow the flash to pop up?

I too would like to know if either the 35 or 50 Voigtlander finders can be used without blocking the flash. Of course the flash is useful for some of us, depending, (in my case), whether or not the output could be dialed down in increments.

The Olympus VF-1 is a perfect match for the 20mm Panasonic--it really does not match the 17mm it was designed for. It has two benefits over the Voigtlander, it is a 4/3 aspect ratio and it is cheaper..

Thanks Gary and Ski. Looks like it's the round 35mm Voigtlander then. I'll just have to be sure to shoot loose.

Finder, the Olympus looks right on an Olympus but....
In addition, I print closer to 3:2 than 4:3.

Next step: Artisan and Artist wrist strap to complete my "digital Leica IIIF."

Why not just buy the Panasonic electronic viewfinder? Costs about the same or less than an optical VF and will work with any lens. Ii has been bashed by some but I have it and find it very good.

+1 for the VF-1. Works splendidly with the 20/1.7 - I'm using it on the E-P1. And you can always cut your pictures to 3:2 in post.
