Q3 Monochrom. Is it worth it ?

Hmmmmm, Miss Q3 Is tres Sexy.
Spot on in being Faaaassst with a Crystal Clear VF
quite Worthy but having had the Q and Q2
Which I loved
The 3 does not move my wallet

Main Question : Does One need that megapixel count

I'm more seduced by the new Fuji Medium Format GFX100RF ...looks purrfect !
Or
The Hassy x's , Even though their slower, not as sexy looking, and those lenses are plasticky & big... But I adore the output. The Image

Well I've been looking at the Q2m second hand as an option. Frankly see little reason to spend more on the Q3m, I would never use the flip screen for street work and to me it just makes the camera more fragile.
47 to 60mp is nothing to me.
Since with these you need to be slightly underexposed all the time to protect highlights I have to wonder If you can set the evf to ignore that. I presume so or the finder would be dark to reflect the underexposure.
Maybe @Tuna could chip in, he'll does some lovely work with his Q2m.
Q3m is too expensive for me, even a Q2m would have to be used.
Really I think I'll hold out for the Ricoh GRivm or whatever it's called.

Oh and I would have to be absolutely bloody certain that the dust on the sensor problem was fixed.
My original Q had to go back 4 times at AU$225 a go before it drove me mad and I sold it.
Mind you both my GR Digital iv and GR also had to be cleaned at AU$135 a go but it took 10 years to get to that point so it didn't hurt so much.
At least a used M10m could use all my lenses and I can clean the sensor myself...

Mmmm, please stop encouraging my GAS, it's bad enough as it is.

The article reads like something generated by Google's Gemini.

I like flippy screens and lots of pixels; monochrome sensors, not so much: I've sampled the latter, and it didn't do anything special for me.

Neither the Q3-series or the latest incarnation of Sony's RX1 seems like much of a deal, but as @helen.HH suggests, Fujifilm's GFX100RF is where things start to look interesting.

Yes, I have the Q2M and it was a luxury purchase as I didn’t really need it - however, the reviews were glowing and I was attracted to the idea of a B&W only process in the capture with the digital ease. In a way, I justified the cost as getting something very similar to a 28 lux lens with a very nice camera attached for less than the cost of lens only.

Ergonomically, very balanced in my hand. It is larger than my rangefinders but feels light.

Amazing ability to capture subtle/low light.

Yes, underexposure often required as the results from the files are way more effective in the highlights of the final image while shadow punch/detail is still always there.

I have the M11 with which I am able to transform perfectly good B&W images through conversion but I find I shoot with the Q2M way more when I have both with me - during a recent trip to Istanbul I had the M11, Q2M and MP with me - M11 saw the least amount of use.

I have not used a Q2 monochrome, but own a Q3 28 camera, and use the monochrome jpeg option when it suits me, or convert the DNG file to monochrome in post-processing. Compared with the Q2 monochrome, the Q3 monochrome would have the higher resolution sensor at 60MP, and larger in-camera digitally zoomed files e.g., 35, 50, 75, 90mm, or whatever one chooses to crop in post-processing. That is anathema for many, but as a confessed zooming sinner who will end up in Dante's 6th circle of hell for heretics, I find the zoom files useful. Anyway, another useful feature of the Q3 cameras is the in-camera battery charging via USB-C port for connecting a power bank. Charging is fast, and can be done with inexpensive, small power banks in your camera bag; much cheaper than accumulating Leica batteries. It's faster than using the Leica plug-in external battery charger. And there is the flip-out LCD in the Q3 (and M11, and SL3) cameras, useful for low-to-the ground shooting.

Is all this worth a $7,300 upgrade from a Q2 monochrome? If I owned a Q2 monochrome, I'd likely not upgrade, even if I won the lottery.

It's definitely a great camera. However, I'm waiting for the Q3 43 Monochrome as it fits perfectly with my Q3 43. Finally, I just have to think about “colour or b/w”.
