Hi guys
Of course we all know the goodness of Leica R lenses and - despite being manual - I can check a local website for some good offer "not to be refused". I have three questions:
1) Interposing the adapter Leica R / Nikon AI, will I be able to use A mode rotating the aperture ring (exactly as any other AI/AIS lens) on the lens OR it will become a stop-down working like for Nikon F lenses ? ( I have D700 / F6 / FM3A cameras )
2) Which kind of image (if any) degrading may I expect altering the optical path by inserting the adapter ring? Will it somehow affect the optical rendition or image magnification (less important to me, this last one)
3) Which other things may be useful to know ?

Hi Dino,
I'm not sure to which adapter ring you refer. I've never seen a Leica R to Nikon F adapter ring; the only thing I know is the Leitax lens conversion.
With the Leitax adapter, basically what you do is take the mount off your Leica lens and install a Nikon mount instead. You get a stop-down lens with a Nikon bayonet. It's reversible, but changing it requires working with some screws on the lens. The optical path is not altered by the conversion, so image quality stays the same.
If there are other adapters that directly allow Leica lenses on Nikon bodies, they probably use some kind of lens, as the difference in lens registers (47 vs. 46.5 mm) is too small to fit an adapter. In this case image quality will suffer from the adapter.

Ciao
sorry for the late reply, this is what I found here:

however I had already heard of the Leitax, I was just trying to understand if it could have been a viable alternative and eventually which use tips I'd have needed.
