Quick one.

How does Elite Chrome stack up against other things in the line.
I like E100G. Similar?

Grain, sharpness, color accuracy?

It's the cheapest thing out there, and I want to know if this is a viable money-saving option.

Sample Images welcome.

Thanks Guys.

Oh, and I'm aware of the Extra-Color (or whatever) version of Elite. Primarily interested in general purpose--not much of a landscape guy--this will be more for travel/cultural (ie shots with people in them)--so I assume the standard version would be better.

I shot both in the past and could hardly find a difference, save for color vibrance. E100G wins that one. Sharpness and grain are equal AFAIC, meaning lots of sharpness and minimal grain.

They scan pretty much the same as well.

I've used both a lot.
Kodak E100G and Elite Crome 100 are completely identical in terms of resolution, sharpness and grain.
Elite Chrome is a bit warmer in its color balance, E100G more neutral.
And Elite Chrome has a little bit more saturation and contrast, this film is more tuned for the "amateur taste".
But the difference is small, I think more a matter of taste.
Personally I prefer E100G.

Cheers, Jan

I have read in parts (take with pinch of salt) that these are effectively the same film, but stored differently. Maybe that's true, maybe not.

I love Elite Chrome 100, I find it personally much better than Fuji (personal opinion, don't get offended) and it turns out some glorious neutral results.

In terms of differences between it and E100G, very little from what I can discern. I haven't noticed blue shadows overly but where I have, I don't mind that look.

It's a good film and I hope it's not toppled anytime soon as it does offer something Ektar doesn't, namely it's a slide film but also it is different. Put it this way, Elite Chrome is no Portra (it wouldn't be) but it's got a sensible colour balance that I like.

e.g.

I use E100G as my standard E6 film. It has a wonderful neutral feel to it. Last year I ran out when away and bought some Elite Chrome. The colours are a bit more saturated, not as pleasant as Velvia. It also seems to have a slight Magenta look to it. I didn't like it, to the extent when I received all my E6 back I popped a mount open to double check my E100G hadn't been messed up.

Steve.
