Is there any way to tell if T-Max concentrate has gone bad by color or smell? I know the standard answer is to run a test roll, but I don't have a roll to spare for this (and it's overcast, so there is no way to quickly shoot a new one).

Thanks,
Dante

I take it you mean TMax developer? Short answer, not really without calibrating a test first.

I know the standard answer is to run a test roll, but I don't have a roll to spare for this (and it's overcast, so there is no way to quickly shoot a new one).

Kodak says the concentrate lasts 2 years, irrespecive of fullness of the bottle. The solvent for TMax is a glycol, so I don't think you need to worry much about oxidation.

I've only used it when I was working in a lab, and it didn't have a chance to go off, so I have no direct experience.

Let us know how you go.
