Could someone please point me to the firmware download that upgrades a R-D1 to a R-D1s?
Thanks,

Thanks. That seems to be it. Are there instructions that tell you what to do after downloading the firmware?

I'm pretty sure, once you uncompress the file, there are instructions within. PM me if there aren't...

When downloaded, you have to save it on the CD card

The SD card - yes that much I figured. But there is usually some magic combination of buttons you have to press when you power up to make it load new firmware. What is that sequence?

just curious, what are the ails that make you wish to upgrade the internals?

No ails. It's just that you get dead pixel mapping in V2, which isn't in V1, and it solves a problem with having to double press the shutter when you wake the camera from sleep. The new firmware is the only difference between a R-D1 and latter R-D1s. Other than that, I don't think there any other differences unless someone knows better.

The raw buffer has increased from 2 to 3 frames but the batteries last less long with the new firmware.Topdog1 said:...Other than that, I don't think there any other differences unless someone knows better...

No shortcuts needed. Copy the unzipped file on the sd card, put SD card in camera, camera does the rest. Couldn't be easier.
The hotpixel feature alone is worth the upgrade.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

As this is a readily-downloadable item, I am sure Epson will count further dissemination as a public service....
Once you've read it, would everyone agree that an 'onerous' repair is more serious than a 'time-consuming' repair? Or perhaps vice versa...

Not true. Haven't done anything more than unzip the file, copy on the sd card, put sd card in camera, switch camera to "on" and here we go. Everythings else is just making things more complicate than they should be.
Didier.
