Not sure if you saw this but if it is only off on the vertical then it is very easy. Just make sure you have percision screwdrivers handy. I am not very mechanically inclined and did it so if I can.........

Just bought old good R-D1, but it has that annoying vertical rangefinder problem. Could anyone tell me exact type of screwdriver, what I need to use - to be able to adjust this issue? Thank you in advance!

I used a 2.5mm flathead screwdriver to adjust mine. Most guides also recommend using a shaved wooden dowel or chopstick to get the hotshoe cover off, but I found that didn't give me enough leverage. Instead, I used the same flathead driver with tape wrapped around the end to keep from scratching the metal.
The R-D1 is definitely one of the easiest RFs to adjust yourself, especially the vertical alignment. This is especially convenient, since almost every example I've seen will need it at some point.

I used the instructions by Jim Williams, whose site is now hosted by our own CameraQuest.

Thank you for a prompt reply!
It seems like I have 1,5mm, 2mm and 3mm flat screwdrivers, so I guess one of them should be good enough for adjusting)
Hope that l'll manage to do it.
Is there any special suggestions, regarding this procedure?
