Has anyone used or know anything about the Rollei Beta4 flash unit on the R-D1s?
I have a complete kit and was wondering if it would be appropriate to pair and/or how good it would perform?

Sorry, I don't know that flash.
Just make sure to check the synch voltage, or use a wEin safe-synch device, regardless of which flash you decide to use.

No information about your flash, but be very, very careful. Just have a look on this site "Strobe Trigger Voltages". All listed Rollei flash´ (e.g. Beta3) have to high voltage and are not usable.
