One of the "Rarest Of The Rare" Leica lenses, this Wartime era Black Paint f1.5/85mm Summarex just sold on evilbay for $4,600
(a great deal!)
Lens went to Switzerland

I`ve seen 4 of these lenses in the past 20 years and this was the most complete and in top condition, price wa really in order for it`s rarity -
(I believe this came from a ex Military member estate sale while a very clean *but defaced* GI "bringback" Red Curtain Leica IIIC "Luftwaffen Eigenturm" was also sold by this seller)

......it will be a long time till we see one of these lenses again

The Swiss Frank is very strong against the US Dollar, so the buyer may have gotten a good deal here for a very rare lens that has high resale market value for some collectors. I have to do with a Canon 85mm/1.9 that I love for portraits. My Summicron is "too nice looking" ... !

I prediced that this would go "back" to Europe.......the rare collectors market here in the states is slipping quickly, due to our poor economy and failing dollar
(I`m really happy to see it didn`t go to any of those dealers who would have put a $9,000 price tag on this
*we all know who I`m talking about*)

I hope it went to a collector who might even use? it from time to time........

Europe`s where alot of the rare WW2 Leitz stuff is headed now, all the stuff Grandfather brought back from the war is now going back 60+ years later
