This completes my trilogy 28 elmarit Asph, 35 lux Asph, 50 noctilux. The RD-1 is flat out my favorite camera. I'm sending an unopened M8 back, in small part because of the M8 issues, and in large part because I love the RD-1 so much. Especially important for me is not having to think about the camera, just the pictures. I turn the LCD around, and I find the Raw images, at least processed with SilkyPix need almost no post processing. It must be something like shooting film, which I never got to do!! I think a good deal of time with this camera, and these unbelievable lenses, will help my photography a lot. best...Peter

The RD-1 is one of my favorite cameras, too, despite its quirks. I love the folding LCD, and the overall ergonomics. I primarily use it with the 28 'cron, 35 'lux ASPH, and 50 'lux, all of which combined probably take up less room than my DSLR with one lens...

Geeze, Peter ... every time I look at your examples I have to reach for the Rolaids or Tums. I was looking for banding, green blobs and purplish blacks; just couldn't find any.

Wow, a black rose
Seriously though, have to agree. Have just got the 50mm Nokton (I don't have the money to do Leica I'm afraid) and I'm amazed by the quality. Plus its such a joy to use after years of floppy modern SLR lenses

That proven Sony-made CCD (same as Nikon D100) with the firmware update in mapping out the bad pixels, Adobe RGB... add that to great Leica/Voigtlander lenses and what is relatively a "moderate" price, it is very very good.
As has been discussed in the past, it is a shame that the camera is not supported very well by Epson (and not a good thing since it does break down, I am on my second), I will buy Leica's offering once my RD-1 ceases to function.
Given recent discussions, I would not sell my RD-1 for an M8.

nice picture... Actually, the 35 lux asph is my favorite on the R-D
Saxshooter, I wouldn't sell my R-D1 even whithout recent discussion. I always used 2 Leica film bodies, I will use it along with the M8 once all troubles are settled. I am planning to sell my 5D but there is nothing I dislike about the R-D1 so there is no reason in the world I will sell it. I sold once a camera I liked, the Kodak slr/c for the 5D and I never stopped regretting it...
