Just back from taking my new RD1 on its second photo foray. I find the Nokton a great match. Set the framelines for 35mm and it is very close, given that the viewfinder sees only 85%.

This camera just makes me want to go out and take photo's and that's what it's all about.

Cheers,

John

Great shots.I like the 1st most of all.My favorite lens on my RD-1 is also 40mm but, mine is a cron just a bit slower!
Glad you are enjoying taking photos with it,as you point out the RD-1 is a users camera.

Regards
Steve

Good stuff. If it makes you want to go out and take photographs then that's a real plus. I'm just off out and the RD1 is going with me with my Hexanon UC 35 attached - removed from my M8, which has been gathering dust lately.

I'm a bit of a B/W fan but the colour shots seem to have something that my Canon DSLR lacks. Can't bring myself to desaturate them :)

I like the colour from the RD1 a lot, but usually end up preferring the B&W versions. I quite often set the camera to B&W so that the complete workflow is B&W (in Photoraw). As I'm shooting raw I can always change my mind later if I want to.

I often did the same thing with my Ricoh GRD. It forced me to think in B/W as I would with B/W film.

I will go through some of those I took today and see how they convert. On Monday I hope to go to a more rural area and photograph some old buildings etc. Perhaps that will suit B/W more (or sepia).

Cheers,

John

I spent about 3.5 weeks in Sydney a few summers back.

Your photos of the coastline at the beginning of this thread almost made me cry.

I would love to work my way back down under some day.

I suppose I take it for granted. Here's a couple more of the local beach about an hour north of Sydney on the Central Coast. Hope you can make it back some time :)
