? re.90/4 for m mount

I'm with Frank on this one. I only have one 90/4, the Rokkor, so it's my favorite. BTW Joe, spurred by your expressed interest (in another thread) in acquiring a 90 and wondering about the qualities of the CV 90, and the Rokkor 90, I shot a test with my 90's yesterday. I don't usually shoot tests, but, provided it comes out OK, I'll post it up.

🙂

The 90/4 M-Rokkor is pretty nice and you can sometimes pick them up for next to nothing. Under US$200, anyway. Very sharp, nice smooth rendition, nice contrast. Framing up with a.58 finder (CLE, in my case) takes some learning but focus isn't a problem. It's nicer with a .72 or more. Sometimes another f/stop would be nice to have.

I recently acquired a Konica Hexanon 90/2.8 (I like 90's), which, size-wise, is a wonderful compromise between the CV/Rokkor and the Leica 90/2. You may want to put it on your 'Favorite Search.' A couple just passed through eb*y and went for around $600 USD. Does your ZI have 90 framelines? I agree with Joe, the 90 on my CLE (your CL) does takes some getting used to.

🙂

i never had a problem with my rokkor on the cle.
i remember liking the feel/size of that lens.

600 is way too much for me, for a lens that will sit much of the time.
if i could find the minolta lens for less than 250 i would be very happy.
or even the cv 90 for the same.

I've got a Version I of the early 1950s 90 f/2.8 Elmarit that I've used for every shot that I've ever taken on my Leica.
Granted, it is my only Leica lens, but it's no fun if I say that!

Jesus, Joe. Didn't you JUST get the ZI 50/2? At this point, just admit you have perpetual GAS...

Well, I'll take your 50/2 ZM and raise you by announcing I JUST got my 90/4 Rokkor, (as well as the CV 28/3.5 Skopar), from B&H today. There, take that!

The rokkor feels great on the ZI, and snaps into focus incredibly well. The Leica's I tried out felt heavier than the Zeiss body, whereas the weight of the rokkor is very light, and puts the weight distribution firmly in the camera body.

Go on Joe. Buy one and find out for yourself...

now now grant calm down or i may have to send you some of the heart meds i take...lol!

first, the 50/2 is on it's way - i don't have it yet.
i'm happy you got the 90 & a 28...did i mention i have a 40/2 summicron on the way also🙂?

the 90 is for down the road unless i get a very nice deal on one.
i want a small 90 to complete my kit.
the 90 and then that is it!!

yeah i know been there before and it never stuck...but this time it's different, honest.

i think...

let me know what you think of that 90, eh?

I'll be spending a lot of time in Central Park this week with the new toys. After that, I'll probably tell you to buy the lens for yourself again.😉 I played with it a bit walking through midtown after I left the store and already have the feeling I'm going to be very happy with it. I'm already gald I traded the 50/2.8 Elmar for it, in fact.
