Someone talk me down....

I am thinking about hanging out at work later than normal tomorrow just to try to snipe an ebay auction. This is sick. It will close while I am in the car if I don't stay. Tomorrow is Friday, I rearly stay in work till normal closing time on Fridays, never mind late. It is a really nice lot though 😀 .

Hopefully by 3:00 it will be bid up over my budget and I will be able to go home early.

Which item is it? I'm sure a few here can help you by bidding on it till it's beyond your budget ... hey backalley 😀

You won't tell us, eh? Probably one of those hideously over-priced Konica C35 cameras. On some other thread a poster thought $300 USD was a fairly good price. GOOD PRICE? When you can buy a Yashica GSN for thirty bucks or so? Nyet.

Come on, give us a hint? For examply, Hint #1: In what country was it made?

Ted, the gentle interrogator.

Ted, 300USD of a Konica C35? That is indeed overpriced. They usually sell for less than the Yashica GSN.

Rover, I think I know what it is that is tempting you.

I mispoke. It's a Ricoh GR1s. But still....

And what's so special about it?

Ted

Has to be a Leica toy.

Must be a Leica toy.

Will be a Leica toy.

Unless, of course, it's a Hassy toy.

'cuz he has a Hassy toy, didn't you know that? 😉

But then, this being the RFF, it has to be a Leica toy.

No I am not telling you. I have a bad RF jones to feed, but I am not crazy 🙂.

Francisco, the good thing about the Hassy is that their really aren't a lot of toys to get with one. Well, there are, but after a body, a couple backs, the finder of your choice the only other thing out there are lenses, and you really don't need a whole lot of those. What kills you with the Hassey is that there isn't a J8 out there for it. Everything is Hassy prices.

I still do want that 50mm CF lens, but right now I have another target.

I will go check to see how much it was bid up over night. I still may get home early today if it goes too high.

I recomend that you use a snipe site. They bid with 6 seconds left, and I can go to sleep knowing that i am gonna get a bid in no matter what. I often lose, but sometimes get great buys, and don't kick myself for forgetting an auction is ending, or is ending at a bad time. The only drawback is having to give out your ebay password....

The P with the 50/1.4 sold for only $430 or so!!!! What a steal, no I didn't buy it.

I went into work early today and had everything set for an easy afternoon. I had a few things to do, so I figured to just hang out and stay a little late, always could use the $ you know.

Well, I put in a couple bids to bump up the price with less than an hour to go, I assumed the kit would sell for $500 to $550. I wasn't comfortable giving my ebay password to a sniper site. Well, the corporate Web Inspector thingy popped up and locked me out of the internet. As I am a consultant and not an employee, I don't have a password for internet access. It isn't a problem when there are lots of people there signed it, more machines to keep track of and it is a random inspection thing. Well, I logged out and tried to get back in a couple times, no luck.

During the day I had curred my GAS attack and had resigned myself to not buy the kit. (I was still bidding though) and I am not unhappy that I didn't win it, but that price is great I think and I would love to have won it for that amount. Enough people cut out early today leaving me a sitting duck for the Web Inspector that I got cut off and didn't see the close.

Time to move on to the next target. 🙂

There will be more Ralph, and believe me, you can get even better bargains than that one.

Tell me ! Yesterday night I watched a very nice 50/2 ltm collapsible Summicron at $165. I thought 'ha, it will go for more than $300'.

I checked this morning, the winning bid was $165. :bang:

It's one of those occasions when one has to say to himself that in the end it's all about the photos 😀
