eBay. Search for Contax RF 50mm rear caps in addition to Nikon RF. They're not common, but do show up. There are vintage caps from Zeiss Ikon & Nikon, but also new ones from Japan & China.
Edit: Japan Exposures' shop sells the new Japanese caps.

You can use the film canister as nikon / contax rf lens rear cap.

As was stated above, some film canister caps make great rear caps for the 5cm and 3.5cm Nikkors.
I used a Kodak film canister cap. The Kodak canister with the gray cap. Usually Plus-X or 125PX was packaged in it. A bunch of color films used this canister too.
I took a razor blade and removed the inner lip of the cap then tested it out on the lens and it fit snugly. Since it didn't lock, I always kept a rubber band around the lens to hold the cap on while it was rolling around in the bag.
Another option is to get a few caps from Jupiter lenses made for Contax mount. They fit snugly and are made of a somewhat pliable rubber which really sticks to the lens very well and protects more than just the rear element.

Lot's of good advice and suggestions here, the film canister certainly is a quick one until a proper one can be purchased.
Many thanks to all.

The only inexpensive source for rear caps for the 5cm & 50mm internal mount Nikkors that I have been able to find are from an eBay seller with the handle of nobbysparrow from Japan. His price is $10.00 per cap and a single flat rate of $3.00 for worldwide shipping. His caps are a pretty good approximation of the Zeiss Ikon #727 cap, but without the felt lining. Moreover, his caps do not mount to the bayonet lugs as does the vintage Nikon "S" cap. Instead, his caps are a friction fit with the back of the lens.
