I just got a recall notice from my dealer via the NZ Leica distributor saying I have to take my camera back in tomorrow to be sent back to Germany. I was also offered a third off a new lens. Thank you. I now own a Summilux 35.
Cheers,
Tim

PS Is anyone using a SF20 flash with the M8? I can't seem to get it work TTL.

Hi I to had a call that my M8 was to be couriered to Germany on Friday. i have had the offer of 30% off new lens. quote from letter:

3. Compensation for customers who purchased and paid for M8’s before Dec. 31st, 2006

Specific measures designed to enhance customer loyalty should secure your Leica M8 business on a sustained basis.

Please inform your customers, who purchased M8s from the initial shipment and prior to 27 November 2006, to register their camera after 6 December, at:

http://www.leica-camera.us/photography/m_system/m8/

Leica will develop a personal communication and all registered customers will receive a letter from Leica’s CEO and an offer in the form of a voucher worth 30% off the SRP of any additional M lens, to a maximum of $2,000 including GST (NZ$).

Cheers

Well, my M8 is on a plane back to Germany via Auckland and the Summilux is apparently on its way. This afternoon I went for a walk with my M7 and a rew rolls of Astia and was again reminded of how much I enjoy the sound of the old school shutter. But as I said to my dealer, I'm 100% happy with the M8 as it's an amazing camera and does all I could ask for. Best of all, it got me thinking about prowling about the streets again without worrying about how much I'm spending. Now all I have to think about is maintaining the soles of my shoes. Can't wait for the Summilux to arrive. It'll be great to shoot a few weddings with it early next month. I may, dare I say it, even enjoy selling my creative soul in the process.

I had all kinds of problems with the SF24 flash with my long gone M8.

That's one of the reasons why it is long gone and never to return.

I don't know what happened your side; you were really unlucky. The SF24D works absolutely flawlessly with the M8.
It seems the older SF 20 will only work in the "A" and "M" mode and not in the "GNC" mode. Thus it cannot make use of the extra features on the M8.
