recommend places for film (europe)

i'm flying to frankfurt monday, then spending about a month riding the train about. major stops are frankfurt (obviously), amsterdam, brussels, paris, nice, rome, florence, strassburg, prague and berlin. i'm packing the m6ttl and 35 'cron asph and any recomendations on where to purchase film (mainly tr-x and agfa) would be greatly appreciated! perhaps a street address to go along would be supa dupa appreciated!

Hello, have you considered bringing the film with you instead of buying while you're there? On my trips to several of the cities you mentioned, all the camera stores I ran into sold film at a higher cost than what I could buy them here in Canada. Also, looking at your itinerary, you may be pressed for time to have to look for a pro shop in addition to enjoying the numerous sites (and of course, all the stores that carry film near the sites raise the $$$ significantly).
A couple of years ago, I spent 3 weeks in Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice) and I too was considering buying film while abroad. However I decided to bring a ziploc bag full of XP2 Super instead - and I was glad I did. It would have been too much of a hassle to find the shops...
Anyway, that's just my 2 Canadian pennies...

getting film in Germany is, at least in the bigger towns, no problem. But don't buy film at railway-stations because you'll pay at least 50% more.

Tri-X I can get here in every shop, even at drugstores. Agfa is of the obviously reasons more difficult and if someone has some leftovers the prices are quite steep. Here you should consider another brand like Ilford, Fuji or maybe Rollei (I have heard they use the Agfa emulsions). I don't know the prices in Canada but Rollei is really expensive.

When you are in Berlin visit Fotoimpex, they will satisfy your needs.
Film in Rome and Florence is expensive, at least I have not been able to find normal priced film there.

If you want to get things processed in Paris, Picto is superb. Just don't have them mount slides for you...some of the ones they gave me were cut ever so slightly through the film. But the processing itself was superb. Very clean chemistry (no dust etc). http://www.picto.fr/index.htm

As for buying film, I would recommend bringing most of it with you. It is never fun to have to search out film in a foreign country. Sure, almost every major city has multiple places to get good film, but not everybody knows where they are, and they are often inconvenient to get to for a traveler (you will most likely be without a car etc). Film does not take up that much space, just bring 20-30 rolls of the good stuff and then add more if you need it when you find good places to buy it. I am sorry, I know that I found a bunch of places to buy film in several of those cities, but I did not right down where any of them were. One thing to do is try to find RFF members from those cities and PM them directly. That might work better for you. Also, do you know where you are going to stay? Because it is not much use if the best place to buy film is at one end of the city and you are staying at the other end...particularly if the transport in that city isn't great.

Amsterdam: Foto Nivo Schweitzer in the Haarlemmerstraat ( about 15 min walk from the Central Station) is a very nice camera-shop. Film is freely available everywhere in the Netherlands. Obviously, the more specialized your needs are the more specialized the shop will have to be. For instance Kodachrome will have to be pre-ordered. Prices are comparable to the US or Canada, maybe slightly higher.
 
Also in Amsterdam (can't remember the addresses, but they have web sites) - SColor and Kleurgamma (Mauritskade IIRC).

But Jaap is right that the guys at FotoNivo are really nice, with good customer service (a rarity in Amsterdam!). Kleurgamma do same day E6 in 135, 120 and sheet film. You can also rent time on their Imacon scanner.
