Hello,

I am thinking that it would be a good idea to have a CLA done on the M6 I just got.

Could you folks recommend a good shop in the South West states?

What am I looking at price wise.

Thanks, Mark

The two names that always come up in North America are DAG (Dan Goldberg) and Sherry Krauter. The cost is $300.

Dan Goldberg

Sherry Krauter

You may find a good shop locally.

The other point of view: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've used DAG and been very happy (one state away from where I am these days). While local shops might do an OK job, either of these two are THE BEST, easily in the top 10 in the world. I would pay the postage (remember you save on taxes) to either rather than give either of my babies to anyone else.

I second the DAG recommendation; although I've only had Don overhaul assorted lenses, I'll send him my M4 when I'm ready. I think his M-camera CLA rate is $300 or so - someone correct me if I'm wrong. Believe me, if his work on lenses is any indication, it'll be worth the money.

If it has been used it should keep going until a ribbon snaps.

Shelf Queens won't have slow speeds and will cap, they will need a CLA. Invest modey in film.

Both Sherry K., and DAG would be great. Also just got an M4P back from Youxin Ye in MA. Seems like a brand spanking new VF/RF and everything is smooth. He also checked the shutter speeds and lubed everything.

I'll put in a good word for Sherry Krauter. She repaired a 50mm Summi for me and did an incredible job on the CLA of my M2.

DAG is great. I'm sure Ms. Krauter is as well, but I've used DAG and found his work exquisite and very reasonable for what he does. When it comes to CLA time, being cheap is not necessarily a virtue - find the best overall value. For me, that's DAG.
