So dee-lighted with my rekovered Kiev 4 , I have bought a 1966 K 4 from Soviet camera because ,
a] I wanted an early one , and
b] because I have a lovely brown leather waiting ..
Would this early Kiev 4 have real leather ? If so , I may transfer it to a later K 4 .
I have also bought a cla Kiev 4a from cupog , for the reasons above .
Though I have every intention of using these cameras , my objective is a rainbow of Rekoverd Kievs to match the straps from Luigi !
Current stock being ;
Maroon , Dark purple blue , mid-brown , oxblood , darker brown , dark blueish green , - and lots of the tan !
The georgeous oxblood is reserved for a potential cla K 2 , the rich blue for the k 4m , with it's black detailing .
I can get the scraps in London , Holborn , @ £10 for two random packs of leather colours , some are too small to kover a kiev , but I can squeeze two cameras from some pieces .
I guess it would work out at about £2 / 3 per camera ... but there is nothing quite like playing around with leather.
There is no other camera , which , for me , lends itself to such modest alteration , without losing that vintage / classic feel .
Indeed using bookbinding material , means that for the most part , the leathers are as those found in old libraries - though I do have a bright red which may make one camera .
The leather is so thin that it's difficult to cut straight , it slips and twists .
i also have a couple of lime green pieces just for the front panels ... maybe not !
I now have an M 8 / Dig 3 for serious picture taking
Several Leica II and Leica copies for fun slide capture and the OTT Leica copy engraving with a sopurlative finish
Kievs to play with , and Kievs to get kreative with ..
I guess I have most of the angles Kovered !

OOPs - the soviet camera K 4 has been sold !
It was not taken off the list !
