Sorry for the stupid question, but I'd like to make some shopping on e*ay.

I'm interested in russian lenses (jupiter, industar and stuff like that) and I've noticed there are many people offfering these kind of items, principally based in Ukraine.
So what are your favourite eB** ( :) ) FSU stuff sellers?

Thanks in advance!

Alex-photo is undoubtedly the best regarded FSU e-bay seller. Grizzly33bear (AKA Grizzly Bear) has extremely mixed reviews and is the subject of a thread on this forum (do a search). Blyatnikov (AKA siber-sergey) is reliable in my experience. Confdntart has a rather "mixed" reputation (again - do a search!) but is a very charming man:). I personally am not impressed at all by Moscowphoto. Ruscamerapro are OK but no more (again, in my experience) and Sovietarmystuff can have very goodstuff.

In general, I'd say that Alex-photo's gear will work. The others gear may need work.

Cheers, Ian

I have found that I have had the fewest "surprises" from Alex-photo. However, I have still had to relube most of the lenses I have had from him and the J9 I had did need some adjustment. One just has to accept that their "expectation" of standard is different from ours but this is reflected in the price. ;)

so the most reliable one seems to be alex-photo. and he's even the more expensive, but if the money you spend are deserved...

thanks everybody!

I realized that I needed to put the links in my post above. Sorry I type so slowly!
Hope they help.

Palabras, Oleg is not strictly an E-Bay seller (although I think he once was). He is an absolutely first-class repairman who also sells cameras, lenses and so on. You will possibly have to pay a little more for his goods, but you will have no complaints with what you get. Many people here (myself included) send all their newly bought FSU gear to him, to have it brought to full working order - in fact, working better than it ever did before.

Don't be put off by his photos - they show gear BEFORE he has worked on it.

I think everyone here would recommend Oleg.

Cheers, Ian

Gejza Dunay is in Slovakia and sells under the eBay name of cupog. He's been my main source of former Soviet gear. The reason, Gejza goes over most of his items. So, they are always ready to put into service upon arrival.

The non eBay seller Soviet Camera Store is not iinexpensive, but his items are also ready to put into service.

I agree with the recommendations for Alex-photo. I just want to warn you that you get exactly what he describes. If he doesn't state that a lens cap will be included, there will be no lens cap. To avoid additional transport costs, make a list of what you want/need, and try to buy it all at once. Send him a mail if you're in doubt about anything. Condition of items is not allways great and "everything works" is a very general statement that covers a lot of field.

I can also recommend Cupog. He sells cameras in excellent working condition. His descriptions are spot on.

I'll put in a vote for Fedka. He's more expensive, but the gear is good and his customer service is excellent. Alex-photo is good too, but I far prefer Fedka.

cupog is now selling only entomological items!

Cupog is probably on holiday right now. He'll be back soon. He usually posts about 4 or 5 pages of items, ending on sunday evening (CET).

WHITEFOTOTEC is a very very good guy. He charges slightly less shipping than the others and delivers very fast. I have bought a lubitel 166, a fed2 ($22 with industar 22 lens!!) and a Zorki Mir from him before and evertime a fantastic camera arrived. All working superbly (the FED2 is nearly mint!) He also answers email questions very very promptly. All in all a classy seller!
