I just some negs scanned at a local shop, which produces 300dpi scans, on a cd, saved in tiff. Their not that great but it costs two bucks, i'd imaginge that it's the equavalent to a kodak photoCD. Anyway, the film is HP5 pushed to 800, it's a little grainy, but the scans are really grainy. Actually I think it's noise, it looks like the noise I used to get at iso 800 on a digicam. Is there anyway I can get at removing this noise, without losing what really is the film grain? I'm using aperture and photoshop, and I have noise ninja, but so far don't really like it for film scans. I'm open to any ideas, although I'd prefer some way with photoshop, so I don't have to buy anymore programs, and can run actions.

Thanks a lot.

I like the Neat Image plug-in for Photoshop. It does clean up the minilab scans quite well. However, it also removes film grain, and that is one of its secondary purposes.
