Rented an OMD for the labor day weekend and renting a XP1 this weekend- should be at my door soon. I am in the market of either an OMD or Fuji XP1 or the new X-E1 (Being the XP1 uses the same sensor it will help me see the comparison of the signature Fuji IQ)
My question is: Is there any advice for set-up to ensure I can maximize my time shooting and to ensure I set it up correctly? Appreciate your insight and thank you in advance. BTW- I can see some users have both but sorry to say that$ not a financial reality! This will be first my first digital and trying to make a decision for a longer view and anticipating to buy decent glass-although I know with digital there is no long term thinking any more.... Thanx-Dan

Gary:

Thank you for the info. I actually had the xp1 this last weekend and 2.0 firmware, as you know was not out-my bad on the timing. I rented it thinking that I would be able to get a perspective with the new firmware and to get a leg up on photokina announcements of the fujix-e1. looking to buy a digital coming from film(nikon+contax) and trying to compare fuji xp1 (or the x-e1) vs the olympus omd. got a good sense of the fuji signature IQ, AF was just OK in low light-didnt even bother with manual focus. tuff choice for me- i can not justify $1700. vs. the predicted $1000. for the body for just the hybrid OVF ($700 more). Unil we all feel the x-e1 we will not know. BUT I have to say the xp1 felt great in my hands vs omd which was a little too small & fuji IQ was nice.... tuff choice but both are nice tools... dan

If u already have an x100, just about everything u learned applies here as well.. If the camera that u are renting does not have latest SW update ask if it is ok to update it. If I rember correctly latest current is 1.11, due sept 18 is 2.0. Check Fuji upgrade site for details.
