I wanted to give my brother a repainted Fed2 as a present for his birthday, but the russian post office is taking its time and I am running out of it. So I decided to repaint my Fed3 for him instead.

Anyway, I took everything apart, the only thing I dont know what to do with at this stage is the little plate with shutter speeds on it.

1. Should I take it off? (if so -- how?)

2. Should I mask it?

3. Should I repaint it with the rest? Probably the easiest solution but I thought it would look best if it stayed silver.

Thanks for your tips!

Hi lubitel. I don't know if you can remove it. If you can, that would be best. If not, I would just mask it off.

Masking that part off isn't difficult. Just make sure you have a really sharp knife to trim the extra masking tape around the shutter speed indicator.

What colour are you going to paint it? :)

Thanks. It's nice you are there. Whenever I have a "repaint question" I can count on you showing up in the forum. :)

I think I will go for dark red paint and some kind of leather (whatever I will find that will match).

I'll keep you updated

Always ready to help a friend out. :) You're brother sure is lucky. Can't wait to see the finished camera.

To the original question: the shutter speeds plate isn't removable.

Thanks,

I already put masking tape on it. I'll have to be super careful trying to take it off after spraying. It didnt work out so good on a fed 5, but it was my first time, so hopefully I've learned some patience since then.
