When the (cheap brittle plastic) foot on my Voigtlander 21mm accessory finder broke, the finder ended up in some grass nearby. I was very fortunate to find it purely by chance. I hadn't even noticed that it was missing.

I then learned that these finders are notoriously fragile, and expensive to replace.

I eventually bit the bullet and set out to do a DIY repair.

Before doing so, I ordered a taller ever ready case for my Leica iiig, so it would protect the finder once the repair is completed.

The repair took a couple of hours, a certain amount of home DIY tools, and some epoxy glue.

The repair process can been found here:

I hope this is of some help. Be brave. The repair can be done!

If only Voigtlander would use modern telecoms-grade plastic, if they must use plastic at all.

It might be practical to use epoxy glue to fill the void in the finder's foot BEFORE it starts cracking and breaking. This might solve the problem before it starts.

You would think that for the money they charge for these CV viewfinders, that one would at least get a viewfinder with a metal base in all the viewfinders they manufacture.
