I noticed the other day that the Visioneer One Touch 9420 flatbed scanner that I picked up at Office Depot for $100 is supposed to be able to scan negs and slides. After much digging and messing around I was able to make a 2400 dpi scan.
The following is from a 35mm Ilford HP-5 negative. Results are decent! Note that the tonal falloff on the right side is due to sticking shutter on the camera.
