Retina lens question

I've just acquired a Kodak Retina IIIs with a Xenon f1.9 50mm lens. On the lens barrel, just below the KODAK logo there is a small metal tab that sticks out. Can anyone tell me what this is and what its for?

This is a release lever for the X-M-V switch.

The X-M-V switch is locked against accidental changes. Press it in and you can move the green tab. The "V" setting is the self-timer.
