Hello,

is it possible to reuse film casettes from Kodak or Ilford for bulk loading?

As labyrinth type casettes for reloading are not available for every type of camera I have used film casettes from Adox and Efke for my other cameras as they are easy to open. But I have problems opening the casettes from Kodak and Ilford without destroying them.

Does anyone reuse this type of casettes for bulk loading and how do you open them?

Regards,
Thomas

If you want to reuse your cartridges, don't rewind all the way back into the cassette.

If you home process, cut the leader off of the film and load the reel directly from the film cassette. Near the end, cut the film and leave about 2cm from the end of the film.

You can then tape the bulk film to the 2cm of the old roll. New film should go under the 2cm. I usually tape across the entire width of the film. Push the bulk film and the tape portion into the cassette and start rolling.

I did this when I lived in a place where I couldn't buy empty film cassettes.
