Rewind Woes With FED4

I have an issue getting the film to rewind in my FED. With the shutter switch rotated to the B position, the mechanism doesn't rewind with the rewind knob. With the film out, I can see that the rewind spindle is moving and is engaging the film roll. But, at the same time I would imagine that rotating the shutter release to the B setting would disengage the feed mechanism or allow it to spin freely, right? Or, am I just missing some simple step?:bang:

By putting it into rewind, you should find the film sprocket is free to turn. If that's not true you have either not turned it far enough to the proper rewind position or the camera isn't working properly. If the sprocket doesn't turn freely you can't rewind the film.

Thanks, I guess I just got a bum FED. No worrys I'll just have to use a changing bag.

placing the shutter dial on B has got nothing to do with rewinding film.
as Richard said, push down on the shutter button collar to rewind the film.

I can't remember on that model, but there might be a cyrylic letter which looks like "B" around the collar.

that could be, the closest I come to is a Fed 5 and that has no writing around the shutter release collar.

Pitxu is right, push down on the collar and turn clockwise to B - you can then rewind - to check operate the wind lever it should just move without cocking anything
