So I got my book 2 copy today.
OK, slighly purplish tint. 😡

BUT when I glanced at all the pictures, the very nice introduction, the photographers bios and the classy gestalt of te book, I am very very happy to be part of this book and I am very very humbled by the quality and range of the pictures!
Thanks to all who made it happen!!!!!
I will spend probably many hours to fully grasp the depth of the pictures, but joy it will be!

Thanks

Joerg

thanks Joerg.. and everyone else

I'm clearly disappointed by the outcome, but I appreciate the comments.. meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to fix the printing problem

Brett and Ray did loads of work on this book, many hours working on the text, layout and photos.

Thank you for the kind words Joerg.

I'm hoping not to be disappointed. I work in graphic design and do a great deal of prepress. I'd happily offer my expertise and support in any way that I can.

Mine arrived yesterday. First I want to say that Joerg is correct, there are some absolutely fantastic pictures in this book, the overall level of quality is very high. The RFF team of Ray, Brett, Ralph & Joe did an unbelievable job of production, and the introductory text by Jim Williams is really excellent. The book is very high quality, no question.

Second and I am truly sorry to say this, my copy at least is definitely purple. Much worse than the pinkness of my copy of the first book. The amount of it varies all over the book, one or two B&W pics near the front seem to be properly black and white, but all in all I couldn't discern a pattern going from the front to the back as others have apparently done. It is frustrating, as the photos really are marvellous. If you are considering a purchase, I would counsel holding off for a week or two to see if Brett gets some resolution back from Lulu. In the meanwhile lets celebrate this achievement.

Thank you again to the RFF production team for a truly excellent book!

Brett, mine arrived today, all B&W photos a have a purple tint, some are severely affected , some have an quite unobtrousive look. No matter if fluorescent light or daylight.
I won't torture myself with cmplaints, got enuff other trouble eating my nerves.
It looks as if the later books wer better, maybe somebody adjusted the setup after the first 10 were printed.

Nonetheless many thanks to you and the crew, this was a really good project !
🙂

Best regards,
Bertram

I agree with the high quality of work. Many of the "real" names, however, I could not associate with the RFF handle. IIRC, the first book gave both. Is there a way the book production team could post this?

Couldn't have said it better.. Would it be too much to try and produce a book of this quality on a yearly basis.. "Rangefinder Photography, A Year in Review"?

Ray page down in this link and you will see names against internet handles:

I notice that Gerold Marti is in that list but not in the book, and now I realize that he hasn't been posting here recently. He's a very good photographer and I miss him.

The list at Gordy's site is the full, well almost full list of everyone originally in the project. As expected not everyone was able to complete the assignment leading to the final number.

I'm curious to know if my two photos are in the book 😀

I'm still on hold to get more news on the printing process, then i'll order a batch of five books. 🙂

If this was still 4/1 I would say that your name is much to long to fit in the book so we had to cut you, but.......

Yes, they are in and look wonderful.
