I am in the middle of doing tests on vintage 50mm lenses, and similar to my last tests, I opened the door for RFF members to send me their lenses to be included in the tests. I asked them to [please] cover shipping both ways.
To my surprise, I have already received from RFF members:
1. Canon 50mm/1.4
2. Canon 50mm/1.5
3. Nikkor 50mm/1.4 plus a Nikon S2.
Now, there are additional lenses and cameras soon on their way to me!
The additions will include:
4. Nikkor 50mm/1.1
5. Canon 50mm/0.95 plus Canon 7S camera
6. Nokton 50mm/1.5 plus adapter and maybe a camera!
7. Another Nokton.
I am very happy about this all. It is not about the extra lenses and the testing, but I am happy about RFF members making us all like a family. Thanks.

Kiu: I will get two Noktons, so I can do some double checking here. It will be curious to see whether your Millenium Nikkor is better overall than the Nokton.
How recent if the Millenium model?

I am sure both will be outstanding, different looks for sure.
I refer to the lens that was sold with the re-issue Nikon S3, I just call it Millenium Nikkor....it's actually a copy of the last Nikkor RF lens issued back in 1964 in honor of the Olympics in Japan....collectors call the original "Olympic".
Yes its got modern coatings...being produced in the 21st century.
It will give the Nokton a run for the money(I hope).

Kiu: Will your Millenium lens be similar to the 50/1.4 that you alreday sent me?
We are slowly going from "vintage" lenses to "modern" lenses, which is actually quite informative.

Raid, I mailed you a pair of cameras this morning, a Canon 7s with the 50/0.95 and a Bessa R2C with the 50/1.5 Prominent Nokton and a post-war rigid Zeiss 50mm/3.5. Should be a lot of fun.

Mark: Thanks!
The test already was kinda stressful for me, but now I will be "hosting" quite a selection of hard to find lenses. The testing must be done well since this is most likely a one-shot deal due to the hazards and expenses of shipping such equipment across the USA.
The rigid Zeiss 50mm/3.5 is a pleasant surprise. I already have a war-time Zeiss 50mm/2.0 in the test.

Take it easy and don't let the test stress you...it should be a fun thing, treat it as such. Do NOT let the members here stress you with their demands!
Have you seen the results?? Almost unbelievable, Its a 4 day old thread with close to 2800 views and more than 60 posts....the best RFF has to offer!
BTW Thanks Mark.

Hi Kiu,
You and Mark, along with Roland, were the first to constribute to the last test about tele lenses, and now we are seeing other RFF members do the same thing. Yes, I also believe that such a team work is exemplarary and the results will be unique.
I am joking about the "stress"; I take photography sometimes quite seriously, but I enjoy it a lot. I mentally organize the test details for days, and then I execute the testing rather quickly.
Having so many views is amazing! The Leica Forum at PN has never had such a test, to the best of my knowledge.

Francisco: It is easier to concentrate on one focal length than on many different ones, plus, I love the 50mm focal length the most. It brings us life the way we see it with our eyes.

Hi Raid,
You have to admit, you love the 50....personally I like it the least!
I like the 28 the most.Even the 35 or the 40 don't do it for me.
I do have to admit, it's the only optic where the widest aperture is present...where else can you get a .95 or even 1.1???

I now have received the amazing Canon 50mmm/0.95 and the awesome Nikkor 50mm/1.1, in addition to a new Zeiss C-Sonnar 50mm/1.5 and two samples of a Nokton 50mm/1.5 plus a Zeiss 50mm/3.5 Tessar. In terms of cameras sent to me, I now have Canon 7s, a Bessa 2C, and a Nikon S2.
My upcoming test will be taking photos with the ultra-fast lenses. It has been recommended to me to create a dark background for these photos, to simulate a dark room atmosphere in which typical such lenses are used.

I will be soon receiving a Leitz Noctilux 50mm/1.0 from Fred.
This is very exiting.
I will try to post this weekend some results on the Nikkor 50/1.1 and new photos taken by the Canon 50/0.95 for comparison purposes.
