Does anyone know the difference between the Ricoh 500 RF and the 500 G? I have a 500 G, and the 500 RF looks like it has a rangefinder, shutter priority metering, and 40/2.8 lens - just the same really.

It's a later model. Body has more plastic and is slightly more compact.
Unlike 500G hot shoe is raised up a bit above otherwise flat top cover.
Features-wise, this camera is nearly identical to the 500G.

I had a black 500 RF. Definite Plastic feel to it compared to the G. Very nice looking camera though.
Noticeable differences, hot shoe, shutter release, rewind knob, lens finish

Black is beautiful

Black Ricoh 500G cameras are far less common than the chrome version.
OTOH the identical Sears 35|RF came only in black.
The Sears 35|RF comes up regularly on eBay, and is usually inexpensive.
After all these years expect light seals will require replacement, etc.
