Hey! 😁
Recently i got a Ricoh for a really good price and i'm really, really enjoying this piece of work. The metering is great and the controls are compact.

Yesterday however when trying a long exposure, the cable release caused the shutter button to fall off.. Now, i searched online but it only showed results of fixing the 500G yet there is no proper guide on to fixing this on the GX.

Any ideas, if i'm missing pieces or if it's not doable. Eager to hear some input. Thanks!

Does the release work if you reinsert the release button into the hole?
If so and if you are uncomfortable about opening the camera based on the 500G instructions (which shouldn't be that different), then you may just use a little epoxy glue around the hole and reinsert the release button.
Of course, If some counter screw is lost inside the camera, you don't want it rattle around and may have to open it up.

Someone else posted here in the last couple years, about the shutter button falling off a Ricoh 500 variant. I do not remember the outcome, but a good search could prove useful.

Yes, initially it's seems different with the button lock switch but I found out that i'm not missing pieces and after fiddling around it clicked in place with the screw in between the metal gap under the red and green dots. Now I'm waiting for the epoxy to arrive to cement it in place as it's still seems kinda like a weak spot.

The parts were like the picture: a shutter button with a small screw in it, mind you there are two screwholes but 1 mini screw that keeps the clip-on "lip" together. And a plastic part that is under the lip and is used to lock the shutter.

Kinda straight forward but fiddly nonetheless.
