Take a look towards the bottom (Repairs) of this very informative article: http://www.japancamerahunter.com/2012/04/the-ricoh-gr-a-buyers-guide/

Thanks, I dropped Bellamy a line, he said he doesn't know anybody fixing them in Japan.

Yikes. That does not sound very reassuring if he can't find anyone over there!
I have always been intrigued by them and have nearly pulled the trigger a few times, but at the prices they still seem to command, I have thought more than twice! What I mean is that one would typically tend to just replace them, but they are NOT in the Olympus XA, etc. price range ... near disposable. A real shame! Keep us posted!

I sent a Ricoh for repair 2-3 years ago, via Ricoh Sweden or Germany and they shipped it to Japan I think. Maybe they don't do that anymore.

My GR-1 needs a new LCD (the Achilles heel of these cameras). I think even Ricoh Japan has no parts available. Is there a DIY fix for this? A great camera, but I haven't used it in some time because of this issue.

There is a thread on this here at rangefinderforum.com I think. The problem is (usually) not the actual LCD but the contacts of the ribbon cable that drives it. I'm contemplating doing it myself on my Gr1v which has the same problem. I'll do a search.

If there is an actual DIY solution I'm eager to hear about it! Thanks.

Sadly, these cameras seem to be increasingly un-repairable.
I started looking for someone to repair my GR-1 a couple of years ago and have been unable to find anyone who works on them anymore.
Here are two older RFF threads:
