Hello all,
Going on a trip and needed a digital camera as I don't own one. A local guy is selling a Rioch GRDII for $50.00. However, he said it's very temperamental. I was thinking I can buy it and bring it to my repair man to fix. However, that can be ridiculous. Just wanted some opinions here.

Its a risk, and while everything may turn out fine, if there is any issues with it, repairs are expensive, and may leave you wishing you had not taken the risk the begin with. Re: the GRD II itself, I believe the noise reduction is very heavy handed, leading to a lot of smeared detail as you raise the iso.

Thanks much... I've read about the noise with the ISO. I'm just going to spend a little more and get a working GRIII

Depending on funds, GRD4's on closeout can be had. I wasn't sure how well the 28mm prime view would sit with me, so I opted for a GXR and the 24-72 model, which like the GRD4 can also be had on closeout.
Yep, not worth it. The II is considered the least appealing of the GRs. Add a repair fee to the $50 and I bet you will go over the used price of a III anyway.

Apologies, I noticed I misspelled Ricoh.
I changed the spelling and put it in the proper forum area.
