That's very sad. I have no knowledge of his backstory, but there is always a loss when a talented artist passes.

Marty, Thanks for posting this. I’m very sad to hear it. I loved GeeBee’s work when he had an active website. He used a Leica IIIc or IIIf, a Summitar, and Kodak BW400cn film to take lovely photos of Northhamptonshire. Then he rather suddently disappeared from the web. I saw some references to potential legal trouble but have no knowledge of details. I’ve looked for him occasionally in the years since he disappeared, but his photos of Northants seem to have disappeared from the web in large measure. His work inspired me to get a Barnack Leica (in my case, a IIIc), a Summitar, as a lightweight carry on walks or hikes. I’m still doing that today. He did very lovely and inspirational photography.

I’m unable to open the folders on the archive website posted by Maigo, but I believe the photos I referred to are in the folder labeled Leica IIIf and Summitar.

BeeGee is safe with me, I don't care about his background. But I sure liked the Blurb book you showed us. He was certainly in there with James Ravilious

I’d completely forgotten the Blurb book... but you’re right... he captured the rural landscape of his corner of England in a distinctive way.

The photos are not archived - you can open the folders but the images are not there. A common and substantial problem with archive.org.

I was a fan of his rural photos and used to refer to his Summitar pics regularly until his www disappeared
Wasn't aware he was a member here

I didn't either. I knew him from two email lists I belong to, the Leica Users Group and the Olympus OM Group. He was a nice guy and a very talented photographer. A lot of the people on the LUG and the OM group are talking about him, he is sadly missed by all of us.
