USe a Hoya R72 black filter and expose in full sun at 1/60 and f/8 (or 1/125 at f/5.6 etc), which is ISO 25. Quite handholdable. There's no point in using it if there isn't full sun, so you don't really need a tripod. Don't forget the focus shift unless you have an apochromatic lens.
Pre-soak for 5 mins to get rid of the anti-halation (it pours out black). Then develop for 6 minutes at 20 deg C in Rollei* D74 at 1:7, inverting twice every minute. If you dilute the developer further you'll almost certainly get huge grain and the stuff is tack-sharp at 1:7, so there's no point.
The results are great - at least as good as the old Kodak HIE. See the gallery for examples.
*the softpack isn't actually branded Rollei; I think it's made by Maco but it's generally sold as a Rollei product.

I tried the Rollei film at ISO 4 to begin with (I'd seen it recommended elsewhere) but the negs were too dense for scanning even though the control shot (unfiltered at ISO 400) suggested underdevelopment, if anything. I guessed it was around 3 stops overexposed, hence the ISO 25 recommendation.Interesting. I have the R72 filter and plan to use Efke's Aura. I found a lot of great examples, from multiple people, and they all said use a hand held meter at ISO 1 or 1.5, which usually comes out to 1 second at f/16 in full sun.

I've used both the Rollei and the Efke with decent success using B+W 092 at 25 iso, for 1/15-1/60, with f/4 or f/5.6. I have used both D76 and Adox ATM 49. Not much accessible information out there, so it's nice to get some more techniques...thanks roger

D74 is the successor of AM74 (Amaloco photochemicals) sold under LP Supergrain and Rollei High Speed (RHS).
It's a new product made by a famous chemical factory and they succeeded to minimize the amount of Hydroquinon in it.
Under Rollei label: RHS-DC. A very modern type developer. I am just busy to test it out.
The Rollei IR-400(S) I use with the Heliopan RG715 on an E.I. of 12.
