I've had a couple of bags of old cameras knocking around since my schooldays (picked up in junk shops, given by friends etc) which I know are mostly junk - box brownies, folding Kodaks, etc. But I've also had at the back of my mind the memory that there was a Ross camera of some description in with them. I've moved recently, so I uncovered the cameras, and yesterday I had a rout through them.

And I found this beauty. It's a Ross Ensign Selfix 12-20, which does 12 6x6 shots on a 120 roll. It has a Xpres 75/3.5 lens, made by Ross, London, which is nice and clean. It has an uncoupled rangefinder (you read off the distance and then set it on the lens) and is in very nice cosmetic condition. It also has a handy depth of field scale on the left top-plate knob. The shutter is sticky at slow speeds (1/5 is about 5 seconds, 1 second nearer a minute), but it looks and sounds about right at fast speeds (1/25 to 1/300). The bellows look good and I can see no sign of any light leaks.

After my move I'm not set up for developing again yet (The developer is in the fridge and I've found my tanks, but I have no idea where my changing bag is), but as soon as I can I'm going to run a roll of Tri-X through it and see what kind of results I get.

It's a beauty. I look forward to seeing some pics from it.
Just lately I have returned to trying a few of my folders and have been very impressed with the results that I can get from even quite low spec lenses.
Yours has the better lens, should be very capable.
I regret selling my 16-20 after finding images badly effected by the movement of the lens assy in the standard when releasing with the usual shutter button, never occurred to me to use a cable release.
