i have a cpa2 i have recently purchased that has a leaking problem when filled with water.
i am only processing BW negs in it, and i temperature control my chemicals before i add them anyway.
does this machine need the water for anything beside temperature control, I would like to run it dry to save myself the hassle of the leaks.
clue me in, thanks.

I run mine dry occasionally, say about a dozen times over the past years. Nothing has happened yet, but it doesn't sound all that good with the larger tanks (too much weight I'm guessing).

I do five rolls a go, in the 1500 series tanks, 570 ml per bath.

Then find and mend the leak. It should not be too difficult.i have a cpa2 i have recently purchased that has a leaking problem when filled with water.
Then you must disconnect the heater. They should NEVER be run dry. Instead, however, of messing with the thermostat and heater wiring I'd just mend the leak...does this machine need the water for anything beside temperature control, I would like to run it dry to save myself the hassle of the leaks.
If you want rotation and don't want a water bath then get yourself a Jobo Colorbase with motor... They can be easily modified to use to develop film instead of paper...
