SamyAng 8mm fisheye for Fuji xp1

That does seem to be a lot less of a fisheye effect than my Canon 15 f2.8 fisheye which is also a rectilinear design. I have always been interested in the samyang 7.5 for M43 but have never seen one in person. These are interesting lenses though for those of us with panoramic tripod heads.

All the versions of the Samyang fisheye seem to be very good performers at a pleasant price-point.

I got the F-mount version and really like it. It corrects very well with for instance the Fisheye-Hemi plugin and is probably the cheapest good-IQ extreme-wide-angle solution for any mount. I usually correct it a bit to a more rectilinear projection and perhaps crop some to get what I'm after, something that isn't much of a problem with the mp of modern sensors.

For the record, the SLR version do not do so well with the short flange focal distance of mirrorless, also it is kind of large ;) Reports on other forums indicate the version for Samsung NX, Sony NEX and Fujifilm X does very well for such a wide lens.

Right now I'm aching to get my hands on the X-mount version that still isn't available nationally.

have one for pentax crop. fabulous lens, given the price tag. nice fisheye effect, very sharp and resistant to flare. love it.

Have considered one of these to for the Xpro. The shots look great and the price is good. Wonder if i would tire of the effect. For the price it may be worth a try.

EDIT: what the heck, I just ordered one:)

Posted via the scoop.it site..blog posting about the Samyang 8mm fisheye for Fuji x-mount.

I am surprised, I was expecting a more pronounced effect then what his pictures are showing.

Very nice photos. I'd say you nailed it!
So is the very first photo in your post with the 8mm and no fill flash?
Also, do you happen to have shots from the same vantage point with the 8mm and the 18mm too?
Thanks

I recently got the Bower-branded version of this lens (as far as I know, they are the same lens). Love it on my IR XP1. If you keep the horizon in the middle and aren't shooting something with straight lines, it's not really very fish-y...but point up or down a little, and you're quickly in floundersville. :)

Nice.... I love what u have been doing w/ the ir converted xp1. Still saving up money to get the extra body plus conversion.

Kuvvy

Now that is a fisheye effect :D both shot look pretty good (yours and KerryMcCain), especially given the price for that lens.

Nice Kuvvy. Did I ever say u got a good eye? U got a good eye. Super wides and fish eyes are not for everyone, but u do them justice.
